The alarm went off at 5:30 am and I immediately wondered why the hell I set it so early for a Saturday morning. I really hope the rest of the day doesn’t disappoint as much as the realization that it not Saturday. I mean, it’s Thursday, which is one step closer to my weekend than I was at this point yesterday. But it’s no Saturday, and never will be.
Yesterday wasn’t awful, especially in comparison to the previous two shifts. It was Power Nerd’s last shift, and it was a split shift with StressedRPh. She had brought him an ice cream cake as a gesture of “good luck”. There wasn’t any overlap of their shifts, which made the shift run even more smoothly.
But the highlight was cake.
I talked with my mom last night. She has the uncanny ability to call when I’m already on a call with Shawshank. However, since she’d already texted me with a medical question earlier in the day, I figured I’d return the call. She’s good, aside from yet another case of thrush caused by her inhaler. We talked for a bit about the border closure, and how that will affect Plan Eh, and the frustration that surrounds everything involved in it.
Today’s another closing shift, and I’m cautiously optimistic about it. It wasn’t too busy when I left yesterday, and I don’t expect today’s shift to be as bad as earlier this week. I’m dressed and ready for my workout. It’s much cooler upstairs today, and I don’t expect it to be as sweaty as some of my other recent morning workouts.
Time to put on some shoes and head upstairs. Have a good day, my friends.
