Typical

I managed to get a short workout in this morning, which I deserved. For some reason, I was incredibly tired this morning, and I pushed myself off the couch to make lunch. If I hadn’t, there was a good chance I would have fallen asleep on the couch and been late for work. But I got up, and I went to work, and the shift with BossRPh was pretty decent.

Typical Monday.

We didn’t have too much Corona-craziness today. Then again, we didn’t have a lot of people in the store in the first place. The store has run out of face masks, hand sanitizer, alcohol swabs, and there was only one bottle of alcohol at last check. It doesn’t help that we’re only a few miles away from the virus’s “epicenter” in my state, and people are panicking. One of the local hospitals stopped allowing visits to patients unless they are children or “end of life” patients.

I spent most of the day dealing with people on Facebook about my ad for the comic books. Someone messaged last night offering $100. Sorry, but no. Too low, not happening. A former coworker sent a message. As it turned out, she thought a friend would be interested. False alarm, not interested. Another message came in about the ad as I was driving to work, wanting to know how many books were in 55 lbs of comics. Fuck, I don’t know. Two big boxes worth. He wanted a number, and would meet me at around 4:30 pm. I don’t have a number, and I won’t be home until 5:30 pm, but I will count them when I’m home. “Sounds good, see you around 5!”

He sent another message just after 4 pm. “I need a number, I want to make sure it’s a good investment.”

WTF.

Dude, I told you, I can’t count them until I get home. I went home, counted out 460-ish comics, and let him know he could take it or leave it.

He took it.

That’s three fewer boxes in my kitchen.

I talked with him for a bit tonight. He’d been talking with his roommate about how I get his bag to him. “Didn’t your consulate get in touch with you at all?” Well shit, no, they didn’t. ICE notifies the Canadian consulate he’s in custody, then they should get in touch with him. That hasn’t happened, as far as he knows. He’s calling them tomorrow. However, he worries this will speed things up and they’ll ship him out sooner.

“I don’t want to ruin your timeline,”

he told me. I don’t have a timeline right now. My timeline is based off clearing as much out of the house before I can get it up for sale. And while I don’t expect it to sell immediately, I don’t want to put it up right now. I feel like that would run the risk of us both getting up there at the same time, which would be too much of a strain on his parents. If he’s up there for a couple of months and the house sells quickly, it might not be bad, but I’d like things to settle somewhat beforehand. Hell, I have to wait for my passport anyway.

Aside from the housecleaning, my big issue right now is worrying about a vehicle. I’ve had two ideas on getting something new. The first was to cash in my retirement and use that to buy something that will handle the camping trip. After crunching some numbers, my other idea was to finance something now, then pay it off before leaving here. Either option, if done sooner rather than later, will give me plenty of time to prep it for the trip. Right now, the market is sucking and my retirement is a little bit lower than it was when I started making these plans. I’m debating whether or not to bite the bullet and get what I can out of it now, or leave it and hope it improves.

Either way, I still need new wheels.
