Yesterday, I learned that I can’t play Baldur’s Gate the way I play Skyrim and The Witcher 3. I let the time run out on a quest where I was poisoned. I knew the countdown had started. Unfortunately, I didn’t pay attention to when that time would run out. Instead, I continued finished a couple of minor side quests before I moved on with the main story line. The end result was me stuck in situation where I had to finish the quest line I was doing before I could do anything else. I was stuck in a dungeon and had to fight my way out. I finally emerged from the catacombs, and tried to return to the city and the quest for the antidote.
Time ran out on the way to the city.
Then I couldn’t restore to a point where I wasn’t poisoned. For a long moment, I nearly became one of the videos where a toddler throws some expensive electronic device, stopped only by the fact that I KNOW WHAT THIS THING COST. Instead, I paused the game, had a smoke, and then exported my character to start over.
It’s much nicer starting over at level 7 than level 1.
