Mornin’, y’all. It’s a sunny and cold Thursday here on the prairie. I can’t get over how overwhelming the landscape is here. Unfortunately, there’s also too much of a breeze to make spinning poi outside a thing today.

I spent much of yesterday afternoon working on several of Shawshank‘s Warhammer 40k minis. First up was magnetizing one of his sets. It went along pretty well, for the most part. There are a couple of things that I need to adjust a little. I should have opted for slightly larger magnets, as some things are still slightly wobbly. However, they work well enough. Small or not, the magnets keep the ladies from moving when they’re not supposed to move, and are quite the improvement over their existing pegs.

After the magnets, I spent the rest of the afternoon painting two of the minis he’d been working on before he left. From what I can tell, he had almost finished what he had started. A handful of little pieces and two “accessory pieces” weren’t complete. I think we had planned to paint the army, make the bases, and attach them before finishing some of the finer details. I’m hoping to prime some bases this afternoon, and finish the two I’ve been painting while the primer dries.

We made a tasty dinner last night.

I’ve missed cooking with him. We’d been talking about how difficult it’s been for both of us to adjust to cooking for just one person. I miss cooking things I like to eat without worrying it’s too weird for Mom and Brian. Dinner was homemade crispy chicken and fries. I had mine in naan, eliminating the need for utensils. Shawshank opted to eat everything with a knife and fork like a civilized person. Tonight, we’re having one of my favorite meals that I haven’t been able to have in forever, mac and cheese with hot dogs cut up into it.

I think it’s time to get off the couch. I’ll do some dishes, build a priming area in the closet. With a bit of luck, I’ll hopefully be set up and ready to go by the time he comes back from work for lunch break.
