space roach

Good morning, world. Welcome to a new week. While the sun isn’t up yet, I can tell you it’s overcast. The snow that started yesterday afternoon continued through the night. About 19cm of snow fell over the last 24 hours. We’re not going anywhere.

And since it was so ridiculously weathery, we didn’t leave the house at all yesterday. Shawshank was putting on boots and preheating the truck to take it back to Shady Acres when his mom texted him to say she didn’t need it back yet. If we’re not going anywhere in this, she certainly wouldn’t.

The two of us built our new Warhammer minis instead.

This was my first larger miniature. I knew I wanted to take advantage of the larger base to do something more than just sand. I built up the base with cork and some small stones from one of Shawshank‘s potted plants. I also added some sand and smaller stone to things, which didn’t end up in the photo.

However, I needed to mod the legs slightly to keep the ride’s stance solid, and that was a new experience. At one point, all the legs were held on with putty and flopping around. Eventually, I had everything the way I wanted, and the space roach’s legs were glued into position. We plan to prime things this morning, then paint all day. I’d love to finish it before I leave here.

Shawshank just came in from shoveling the walk. I asked if it was still snowing or if it’s just blowing.

“Yes”, he replied.

TinyTown is closed for the next two days. Let’s hope we have enough primer.
