Battered and Bruised

Yesterday was a steady day. The printer never seemed to stop spitting out leaflets. I was annoyed, until Matryoshka said she’d printed off today’s auto-fills. Today might not suck that much.

My mom called last night. Her area is preparing for Hurricane Sally. She told me – several times – that hurricanes in Florida are like snowstorms up here. Up here, they’ll warn us to expect 12″ of snow overnight, and we’ll wake up with nothing. Down there, she says the weather reports will forecast insane winds and floods, but they won’t get anything. I don’t think that’s the safest mindset, but who am I to argue? Up here, we still prep at least somewhat, even if it’s just a run to the grocery store for bread and milk.

Mom also started in on the “when will you be putting the house up?” question again. I told her I’d like to be ready to sell in two weeks. I’m done. I just want all this shit over with. Right now, I’m pretty sure that everything that I can sell on eBay has already sold. I have a handful of Lego sets that I’ll list at dirt cheap, because any money is better than no money. The same with the remaining comic stuff and and furniture.

There doesn’t seem to be any end in sight to the border closure. Not that I blame Canada, I wouldn’t want to open the floodgates. Mom’s very excited at the fact I’ll have to head south before I go north. She’s terrified that I’ll head north and never be seen again.

I should be doing a workout right now. I’m skipping it today. I’ve spun poi every night for at least an hour or so since last week. The new poi came in on Saturday, and they’re awesome, and I can’t keep my hands off them. Unfortunately, they hurt like crazy.

These bruises were just from Saturday’s session. I’m not sure whether it’s a technique issue with my bicep wraps or design flaw in the poi. Whatever, sleeves. The bigger issue is the two additional nights of spinning since then. Sleeves helped on Sunday and Monday, but a couple – ok, a several more than a couple – of really hard hits to my hands and arms have left me pretty banged up. I don’t want to add more to recover from, so I’ll take today off from all the activities.

And I’ll have a soak tonight, instead of spinning.

Shawshank is right about your boobs . Lol. Sorry you have to go south- as a Canadian I accept we are keeping things closed because the US is bonkers right now infection wise. But- your husband is here. Yesterday I found that Netherlands is allowing long distance loves to come to the Netherlands even if their country is technically verboten- they are making an exception because love matters. I think that’s amazing. Now- my boyfriend lives in the Netherlands, and ‘omg I can go visit!’ Except- Canadians already aren’t prohibited- I wouldn’t even need to quarantine -I would be ‘encouraged’ but it’s not mandated . Too bad I’m too poor to hop a plane

As an American, I don’t blame y’all for keeping us out. I feel like half the country doesn’t have the brain cells of a tadpole when it comes to the virus. If I have to stay out to keep the rest of the freak show from escaping their circus tents and overrunning the joint, the I’m cool with that.

It sucks that I’ll need to head south, but it is what it is. I’ll make everything a road trip of epic proportions. Shawshank said the rumor is opening up in November. I’m not sure I’ll want to drive into Saskatchewan that late in the season, but we’ll see how things look.

You could come hang in Toronto where the weather is a bit less odd and then head over when you’re happy to- the drive would suck- 25 hours or so but once you’re over the border then you’re ok right??!?
