Yesterday wasn’t cool.
I had hyped myself up for Chinese takeout. The Chinese place is always open. They, and the local fast food places, are open every holiday.
Except yesterday.
The Chinese place closed. Shawshank called them to check. Then, for good measure, he called Dominos and Popeyes. Maybe, I could have something of a treat. No one was open. My plan was to pick food up as a late lunch and graze for the rest of the day, watching either “Ozark” or “The Queen’s Gambit”.
Instead, I spent the afternoon curled up in my “bed”, with the cats on top of me, watching “Twilight”. I cobbled together a dinner of leftover shrimp, sausage, and rice. Shawshank pointed out I could order Chinese tonight. I could, and I probably will, but it doesn’t change the fact that I spent a shitty family holiday alone eating leftover sausage.
I had a decent workout – 96 minutes – which was one bright spot in the day. At noon, I loaded up the local rock station’s stream to listen to Alice’s Restaurant for the final 20 minute stretch of the workout. The rain eventually stopped and it wasn’t too chilly outside after dinner. I took the poi out for a spin for an hour or so. I’ll take all the chances I can to spin in peace before I go south.
I have to briefly leave the house this morning because there’s a showing at 10am. I took some time last night to clear up most of the day’s messes, so I don’t need to do too much this morning. I’ll use that time out of the house to put gas in the truck and grab a coffee. By the time I can come back to the house, I can make myself a bagel.
I don’t expect today’s shift to be too bad. On one hand, we’ll probably have some automated shit from yesterday to deal with. On the other hand, no doctors will have office hours today, and the incoming script count will be lower. Plus, we can wear jeans on Fridays for the next month.
Oh well. I’m going to shower before work because I feel gross for some reason. Shawshank just woke up, and I need to get ready to leave the house.
Coffee will make your morning a little better. That’s coffees superpower ☕️
