The weekend is finally here. It’s a gray one, but it’s a Saturday nonetheless, and neither of us is working, so I’ll take it.
I was dreaming last night. In my dream, my uncle called and told the two of us there was something in his yard and we needed to get rid of it. It was under a rock by a tree in the front yard, and we should go over while he was at work and take care of things. “Things” in this case were a pair of burrowing land crabs the size of Butterball turkeys, which had made an underground den and were wrecking the yard.
We’re hoping to get all the shopping done before lunch. We’re making a quick stop at a craft store while we’re at the Indian market. I need to grab something for my annual Halloween cake(s). Next week, I do a trial run on the recipes, and he gets to bring some muffins to work.
The cinnamon rolls take something like 4 hours, and the oven will be mostly full tomorrow with Thanksgiving dinner. There’s going to be two varieties of rolls, and I’m looking forward to making and eating both. I need to make some cornbread for tomorrow’s stuffing. I can’t wait for that because stuffing is my favorite part of Thanksgiving. Plus, I’m making cranberry sauce; I haven’t decided if I’ll use my grandmother’s recipe, or if I’ll just dump a shitload of cranberries in a pot and make a jam.
Between Thanksgiving tomorrow and today’s soup, the leftovers this week are going to be frigging amazing.
Happy first thanksgiving 😉
