馃幖SAAATURDAY, 馃幎In the Flat, 馃幍Only got 13 days to July......
Happy Saturday. The weekend is here, and we’re awake. Coffee is flowing, Pippin is doing Pippin things. Chaucer is in a sunbeam. I woke up too warm for snuggles. The sun is out and maybe it’ll be a nice warm day.
I handled more crafty stuff yesterday. I finished up the Harry Potter pants, which had more left to finish than I remembered leaving. They turned out very cute, but aren’t anything I’d keep for myself. The same goes for the white/reverse versions of the black pants: I’m too pale to wear stark white shit. I ironed my “stock” as best as I could. I tried. They look better than they did, but not as good as they probably could. They’re all hanging in the hallway for the moment.
Later, I decided to prep a sheet so I could make something while Shawshank played Tears of The Kingdom. It was another Batman sheet, with a directional pattern. I fucked up the cutting, and accidentally cut a piece upside down. I thought the project was completely screwed, but figured I’d see if I could recover it at all. Not wanting to waste the fabric, I flipped the borked up bit the right way and cut it the way I should have the first time. Then I cut about 5″ off the panel that I hadn’t fucked up.
The resulting panels were shorter than my template’s warning of “anything lower than this is scandalously low-rise”. Regardless of how they turned out, they’d still be pants for someone, just someone shorter than me. However, measuring the length with the tape measure and holding it against me showed it would probably be fine. And they were. Once they were finished, they looked fine, albeit a little oddly disproportionate before the elastic was put in. In the time since the first template was cut, my “assembly skills”* have improved enough that the warning no longer applies. In fact, that warning line might be the perfect length for me in the future.
Today, Shawshank has a half day at work. I think I’ll assume a human form, then spend the morning trying to clean up all the messes I made yesterday. The local high school is having a graduation parade this afternoon, but there are no other plans.
* Specifically, my seams are a lot neater, narrower, and no longer make everything 2″ smaller on all sides
