Touchdown

Good morning, my friends. It’s another sunny morning at Chez Chicky. The cats allowed me to sleep until about 6am, giving me a whole five hours of sleep. Sleep itself was miserably warm, and I slept on top of the covers. Today is supposed to be another hot one.

I made it through a very warm workout yesterday morning. Since I was still in recovery after the booty blast the other day, I focused on upper body. Between the heat and pushing myself, it was a grueling but good workout. The heat forced me to cut it a little shorter than I planned, but it was still a solid 80 minutes of work.

After the workout, I did the weekly shopping. I needed to buy cat food, and since that won’t melt, it was the first stop on the agenda. There was another woman in the aisle with me; she asked if I was a cat person and we bonded over the cost of prescription cat food. There’s a Stop & Shop in a shopping plaza down the road, so that was my next stop. It’s not my regular grocery store, and I prefer the one that’s closer to the house. However, that one has the added benefit of being two doors down from a Sally’s Beauty. As a result, I was able to slather my head in neon pink dye before I’d even had this morning’s coffee.

Unfortunately, I forgot the laundry detergent. It was the ONE THING I needed to buy, and I fucking forgot it. And it’s not like it wasn’t on the list, it was at the very top of the shopping list. I need to go out some time today if I want clean clothes tomorrow.

In other news, THE EAGLE HAS LANDED.

Shawshank made it to TinyTown some time last night. He made a brief appearance in the comments of yesterday’s morning post to say he’d made it to Toronto. Later, he called from Calgary to let me know he’d made it and was going to look for something other than Subway to eat. A lot of food options were closed and he didn’t eat much after Friday morning. He traveled halfway across the country before he could find poutine and a cheeseburger at an airport Chili’s.

I talked with him very briefly when he met up with his dad. He said he expected to be read the riot act. However, he sounded in good spirits during the 30 seconds we spoke. I think he said something about being kidnapped and going to Walmart for sunglasses. Either the lecture hadn’t started yet, or it didn’t happen.

I imagine it was probably more of a “we’re not mad, just disappointed” lecture. I hope.

Between hunger and exhaustion, I don’t expect to talk to him until later today.

The lecture hasn’t happened, so it may not. I think it would’ve happened by now. I’m not complaining.
