so close, now we wait

Good morning, world. It’s another sunny morning here in TinyTown. We’re all up, Shawshank is already out of the house and working the morning shift. The cats are milling about, waiting for me to open the back door and let them sit in the sunshine.

I spent yet another afternoon configuring the Dell. My last project was simply getting logged into the shit I use regularly while streaming. Yesterday, I wanted to get all the tech talking to each other, and figure out how to set a watermark in OBS. The watermark was pretty easy. OBS reminds me of Photoshop, and the watermark was done once I figured out which menu was equivalent to PS’s layers. In fact, it took longer for me to find my watermark in the Chromebook than to set it up in OBS.

Next up: figuring out how to change OBS’s video source to use my phone as a webcam so my streams don’t look like a Boomer on a FaceTime call. Fortunately, I bought a cable for that. The Pixel showed up as a video source once I reloaded OBS, and my only complaint is it’s just too good. No one needs to see me in HD.

I can understand why no one wants to help the newbs set up OBS. It’s a beast. It does so much.

So now, if you’re still following along, I’ve got the laptop connected via cable to the phone to pull video. I set the phone to act as a wireless hotspot, then connect the laptop to the hotspot, and holy fucking shit, it works fan-fucking-tastic. I was able to get the toys to connect, but that connection was somewhat flaky after a couple of minutes. No matter, the adapter for that is on its way.

Shawshank will be home in the afternoon. I have to assume a human form. We’re going out to the greenhouse to buy his mom a plant for mother’s day, then we’ll drop it off at Shady Acres.
