slow small town days

Good morning, y’all. Welcome back to another episode of “it’s a wee bit chilly and I have no idea what to think of the weather”. On today’s episode, we’ll deal with the facts that it looks sunny but is probably too windy and/or cool to play outside with the poi and there’s a cat under my arm that’s impeding my ability to properly type with my right hand.

Now that the two of us have pretty much recovered from whatever plague I brought up from Pensacola, we’ve been having better sleeps. I’ve managed to stay in bed for the last three nights. Chaucer is in a snuggly phase and is determined to be curled up on one of us at all times, so he’s been on the bed since the first night. Pippin finally decided it was ok to share the bed with me about 20 minutes before we got up this morning. Shawshank has been working to get her onto the couch and with us because Chaucer has been hogging all his attention. Pippin sat on Shawshank‘s lap for a while yesterday, and hissed at Chaucer when he tried to come up as well. It was a good start for her sticking up for herself with Chaucer.

We had an adventure yesterday. The trip to the farm was cancelled due to weather and a busted combine tire. Consequently, we settled in for an afternoon of binge TV. In the afternoon, Shawshank‘s father called and we drove out to Slightly BiggerTown to pick up some parts, then brought them out to the farm. They turned out to be the wrong part. Whoops, at least it was the shop’s fault and not ours.

From the farm we returned home, grabbed some cash, and then headed out to the local secondhand shop. Shawshank found a book, I looked at boots, and restrained myself from buying three vintage gowns. I mean, we’re heading into winter, where would I wear these things anyway?

Today, we’re thinking about just staying home. We’ve had plans all week, and they’ve gone awry every day so far. Maybe if we don’t plan anything, something awesome will happen.
