Good morning, y’all. TGIF. I hope you slept. The coffee is coffeeing.
Yesterday started off pretty good. Shawshank went into work in the afternoon, and I immediately started to work on the vest. Everything was going smashingly. I cut the obnoxious fabric into the appropriate shapes. I pinned and sewed them together, then stuck them on the floating torso for alterations. I sewed up bust darts on both the purple and the orange sides. Finally, the moment of truth: pinning both layers together. They fit perfectly. I sewed the edges, leaving the bottom open so I could flip things properly and keep seams inside.
I fucking sewed up the armholes too early and can’t flip it. I had literally just fucking texted my mother to show her my progress, joking that my biggest concern was making sure I kept the opening in the bottom edge so I could do the flip. My disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined.
Ok, so maybe that’s a bit dramatic. Regardless, I’m ok with it. It’s a learning moment. The process that took about 4 hours last week only took 2.5 hours yesterday. I’ll go through the scrap and find something to replace the purple I’d used, and there’s plenty of orange in the stash. For a first try, it’s pretty good.
Shawshank has today off, and we’ll drive out to Slightly BiggerTown for groceries this morning. I need to assume a human form.
