A Day of Rest

While I didn’t spend the entire day relaxing yesterday, I enjoyed the day “off”. With the exception of a few special occasion items, I’ve finished the clothing portion of The Great Sort. I actually don’t know if I’m going to even bother trying to sell the special occasion stuff. Most of what I’m doing these days is packing things to put in the trash, or taking pictures and selling things. My current goal is getting several big items out of the basement and into the trash every week. It’s a manageable goal. As the items I pull out get smaller, I think more will come out every week.

This morning, I started looking into donation options. I feel some items would be better use to people if sent to more specialized organizations. From a quick look, it seems like most of the animal shelters in the area don’t accept towels or blankets. Everything will be bagged up with the remaining clothes, which will help clear a lot of space. A local quilting shop gave me the contact info for an organization helping kids in the local foster care system. I only need to find out when they’ll be accepting items again.

I did both the laundry and my big workout yesterday, and thus, neither are on today’s schedule. The only things I definitely need to do are the dishes, and pack up at least one eBay auction. There’s couple of minor things to clean upstairs. I’ll probably get into the basement and bring up some dish sets and square them away for sale or donation. I also want to finish the bases on my Warhammer minis, and I need to wipe Shawshank‘s laptops. Schools are only doing online classes for the next month, at least, and he’s giving them to DayTech‘s girls. Poor things, they’re going to get a crash course in Ubuntu.

I spent a couple of hours in a bubble bath last night. It’s a good way to finish the week. Last week, I watched an episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The weeks before that, I wrote. This week, I planned to write a little bit. I ended up reading the detainee handbook for Shawshank‘s facility.

One thing I’ve realized this weekend: with Shawshank not home, I can watch things that he was never interested into watching. I’m three episodes into Breaking Bad. Unless a show grabs him right in the first episode, he won’t give it much of a chance. The exception to that rule is Dark, which he wasn’t keen on until I watched an extra episode and said “you WILL watch this.” However, I haven’t watched the series we’d started watching together. It was the same way when he was arrested the first time. We had been watching Downton Abbey. I feels wrong to finish things we’d started together
