There’s snow in the air, and the sky is a solid blanket of clouds, tinged pink with sunrise. We’re still pretty “warm”, and yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day. However, according to my phone’s alerts, we should expect flakes to hit the area towards mid-afternoon. I’ll need to go outside early if I want any good poi time, although spinning in the snow could be fun.
Nighttime snow spinning is awesome.
Since it was so nice out yesterday, I spent about an hour spinning outside. Just after lunch seems to be the best time to make a trip to the post office. And since the post office is no more than 3 minutes up the street, everyone walks, so Shawshank‘s neighborhood got quite the show. Sadly, because the poi are white and blend into the whiteness all around me, everyone probably thought I was flailing insanely around the yard.
Once I had finished my flailing, I sat down to paint. Yesterday morning, Shawshank joked about having me paint one of his major pieces. That presumptuous twit put the mini at my seat to remind me. Well, that wouldn’t do at all, so I moved it out of my way. Way out of my way. I worked on my Demon Prince a bit more, changing more of the gold back to black and then painting other stuff copper. BUT THAT FUCKING MINI TAUNTED ME. Suddenly I had a color scheme in my head and I jumped up to grab paints before I forgot what I wanted to do…
… which of course knocked the light, which tipped another paint pot over. Thankfully it wasn’t a full one this time. As much as I’m cursing this figure while I paint it, she’s a fucking gorgeous mini. Seriously. I’ll take some pictures today when the light is better, but… OMG. I alternated between hating everything about painting it and loving it. Like, I’m trying to maneuver the paintbrush through a tiny halo to paint an even tinier spot on a backpack, or the fact I need to cradle her in my hand like a tiny bird to paint her because she can’t stand on a base. But…. ugh. She’s just so pretty.
When Shawshank came home, he was thrilled that I started painting her. Then he pointed out that technically this particular figure is a single unit of three minis, dropped two more of these beloved figures on the table with me and said something about “unit cohesion”.
Mom texted me an hour ago. “I’m taking Mal to the vet he’s been hiding in my closet for 5 days and and he has not eaten much or had a lot to drink in the same time. Any tips to get him in the crate without hurting him or me”. She’s going to keep me posted about things, but we’re hoping this will be another case of “hydrate and go home”. Her text on her way out said he’d had some catnip and some water this morning, and she had stool and vomit samples for the vet.
Please let me have two cats to go back to.
Why aren’t you just staying on with your Canadian? You would easily get residence in Canada 🇨🇦? Then you guys could both work and get out of the sask…. To east or west…. Both get better ❤️🩹
That’s the plan, eventually. I’ve got the cats to bring up, and that’s the biggest hurdle right now otherwise I’d have no problem staying out here as long as possible. I need to figure out what the best/easiest road to permanent residence up here, since I’m pretty sure Shawshank won’t meet the sponsorship requirements on his own.
You are correct, shawshank will probably not be part of your application, the move North might be easier if you’re coming under other guidelines because he has a criminal record, it’s kinda dumb Canada is judgey. Youre likely to have better luck applying for entry on your own. Because you’re a pharmacy tech, you count as a skilled worker, and you will likely be snapped up in an instant. There are different provincial conduits for skilled work applicants- and you wouldn’t need a sponsor. Saskatchewan for instance has this https://www.saskatchewan.ca/residents/moving-to-saskatchewan/live-in-saskatchewan/by-immigrating/saskatchewan-immigrant-nominee-program/browse-sinp-programs/applicants-international-skilled-workers/international-healthcare-worker-eoi-pool. The good news is that seems to also help you already be lined up for proper working visas and may also share your info with hiring groups who would help
