Monday, can’t trust that day

This is Polly. Polly lives next door. Polly has been sneaking into the basement this week because I didn’t close up the windows where the washer and dryer pump out. I thought she was only going in through the window in this picture. There’s a pipe right next to it, and it’s an easy jump onto the washer. There’s also evidence that she’s been sleeping in some of the insulation over the pipe. I closed everything up Saturday evening when I saw her slip out. She likes this yard, and occasionally comes up on the deck to torment Mal.

Yesterday, I thought things were good to go after I chased her away from the window the other day. I blocked the window when I did the laundry yesterday, and closed it up after the wash was done. Nope! She went to the other side of the house and jumped in through the window by the dryer vent. I had finished my call to Shawshank and needed to get the laundry out of the dryer. Just as I had my hand on the basement door, my neighbor starts calling for Polly. I opened the door just enough to peek downstairs.

Sure enough, there’s Polly.

I went out on my back stairs. “She’s in my basement”, I called out.

“Oh, Jesus”, the neighbor (Jen? I can’t remember) replied. “Let me get some pants on.” I locked Chaucer in the bathroom and chased Mal into the living room. Possibly-Jen held open the back door while I opened the basement door, and yada yada yada, Polly is back next door. I expect we’ll do the same thing next weekend.

Monday again.

It’s supposed to warm up to Summer-like temps and muggy again later today. Tomorrow is going to feel like Fall. The weather is supposed to be clear all week. I’ll be able to put out a lot of stuff packed in cardboard with Wednesday’s trash.

I’m not sure who I’ll be with at work. I don’t think it’s StressedRPh today, and I’m hopeful about how the day will be. It’s the middle of the month, and I think we’ll be in the “lull” of the prescription cycle.

Unfortunately, they say there’s a lot of traffic this morning, so I should put on some pants and go to work. Have a good day, folks.

  1. Oh my gosh–Polly is a sweetheart and I love her!! I have two, sometimes three, outdoor cats that I take care of. Last night I ‘accidentally’ let them stay in our garage so they wouldn’t get rained on. Polly, come on over here, sweetie. The other two cats would love a buddy.
