Hey, y’all. It’s Monday morning, so it’s a new week. We’re starting this week off with Second Winter.

We should expect flakes every day this week. There’s not all that much in the forecast, at least not until the end of the week. The farmers are all saying winter isn’t over yet.
I spent much of yesterday fucking around with ye olde WordPress plugin. I’m happy that it’s working mostly ok. It has four different screens:
- admin entry, with inputs for title, date, content duration, overall view count, and average watch time, and a clickable button bank of hashtags in the database that builds a table where I can enter hashtag-specific engagement info
- edit entry, which looks nearly identical to the admin entry screen; initially shows a list of entries in the system with edit/delete buttons. Editing an entry brings up current data, and another hashtag bank to add any hashtags seeing activity
- hashtag management, where I can add and delete hashtags from the system
- hashtags analytics, which displays a bar graph of all the hashtags and their average watch time across all content tagged with it.
I spent two fucking days last week working on the admin entry page to get that clickable menu working, because every time I’d get it working, it wasn’t quite right. Buttons click but don’t build the table. Build the table, forget the hashtag labels. The submit button wouldn’t submit. The submit button submits but didn’t actually submit. Then it took another couple of days to get a similar menu working on the edit entry screen, before I finally looked at Shawshank and said “It works”.
Ok, so it almost works. Something I did yesterday made the admin entry’s button bank stop building the table. I’ll fix it later, as it’s not too much of a bother to save the entries twice, and the pause between lets me add any new hashtags to the database between screens. I took an hour yesterday to double-fist my tech – phone in one hand, laptop on the lap – and enter data on a bunch of content. The graph is definitely showing better info.
I’ll get it working properly this week.
