It snowed overnight. Not much, but enough to make me personally thankful we went shopping yesterday.

We made the drive as usual, heading out in the late morning. If we time things right, we can hit all the stops, get to the sandwich shop before the lunch rush, and head home just after noon. We weren’t quite as lucky yesterday, but we didn’t have long of a wait. We also going the quilting store, and I picked up a sewing pattern to experiment with. I need to open it up and fuck with it today.

Mail service is slowly coming back to normal. The first piece of international came in last week, a Christmas card from Brian’s parents. His mom always writes a note inside that is guaranteed to exacerbate any issues, and her 2024 message wasn’t any different. To paraphrase: “We love you and miss you, we’re good, your mom is going downhill, have a good holiday!”

It’s it really any wonder I’ve been in a panic ball for a few days?

I finally texted Mom yesterday to ask what was up, specifically referencing the card’s message. She explained it’s nothing new, only some balance issues. She’s always had some balance issues, but they’re worsening when she has to step up/over curbs. With the state of healthcare down South, she scheduled an appointment, but the earliest she could get was in mid-February. She’ll keep me posted. Later, she texted to let me know the office had just called to reschedule; someone’s cancellation opened up a spot in 2 weeks. It’s on my calendar in the kitchen and I’m absolutely going to bother her about it.
