There were oh-so-many roads

The wind is really strong tonight.

I hear it blowing through the doors and windows, making the bushes scratch at the windows.

Normally, it would bother me a lot. I’m trying not to let it bother me tonight.
It’s hopefully only for another day or so.

Driving around over the weekend, I wondered if the state of Rhode Island will ever finish their bridge repair projects. There are highway projects underway that haven’t changed since before Shawshank even came into my life. Then the realization dawned on me:

I won’t see any of these projects finished.

(Ok, now it’s bothering me.)

If I ever come back to Rhode Island, I imagine it will be a similar experience as last year’s trip through Warwick. It will feel the same, but it won’t be the same, like visiting our childhood school as an adult and all the proportions are wrong.

Honestly, I’m a bit surprised about how I’m handling things right now. I’m much calmer than I would have expected to be. I just want to get through this start the stage of things.
