the numbers are meaningless

Happy Humpday, y’all. Shawshank tells me the world outside is a bit brisk this morning. The sun is out and the skies are clear but this cold air is absolutely ridiculous. We’ve reached that point in the temperature scale where Celsius and Fahrenheit are just meaningless numbers. There’s warnings on the news about the severe cold. Go outside, and your shit’s gonna freeze off.

It’s fucking cold, yo.

We spent most of yesterday doing exactly what we planned: fuckall. Shawshank and I put some noise on the TV and we painted our little hearts out all afternoon. He painted some of the trim on his tanks. I glued some of the Battle Bitch Brigade to completed bases for him. I mostly painted some of the Space Roach and its rider, and completed the base for it.

I’m trying to be very consistent with the colors on this one. Silver is for machinery and offensive and defense bits: weaponry, the chain mail epaulets and armor tail plates. The fleshy bits get the fleshy bit treatment as I find them. All of the decorative trim will be a deep reddish/copper/gold. I’m going to do more work on the hooded cloak and the metallic parts today. There’s only one bit of the base I’m contemplating changing, although I probably won’t. It’s not visible in these photos, and I’m not entering it in any competitions. Honestly, it probably will never leave the Flat.

In the long run, it doesn’t matter anyway.

I’m staying inside today. This isn’t the type of weather to go outside and spin poi, no matter how bundled up I am. TinyTown plowed the rest of the streets this morning. The plow reminds me, oddly, of a lobster or shrimp, but I can’t quite put into words why. At least the road will be clear when Shawshank comes home.

For the moment, I’ll probably putter about. I’ll put the earbuds in and listen to something in a language I don’t understand (but with a lot of drums and a dance-y beat) and put on makeup. Shawshank comes back for lunch in the afternoon, and then I’ll have the rest of the day to paint some more of my stuff.
