Step 1:

Get in the truck.

I had to leave things I didn’t want or expect to. Mal cried for the first hour on the road, then anytime he saw me grab my drink or the GPS alerted me about something. Chaucer was quiet, but he was also the only one I could catch to give a dose of CBD oil to. Neither of them ate much yesterday, if anything. I left bowls down for them in the hotel room.

I intended on taking I95 south to where I am now in Virginia. The plan was to skip going through NYC by way of the Tappen Zee bridge. GPS took me over the George Washington bridge instead. I think it would have shaved 10 minutes of the route when it was offered and I accidentally accepted the change. I then lost those saved minutes by missing the turn to the bridge.

Naturally, the last hour was the worst. The traffic was so terrible it took us about 45 to drive 16 miles. I saw the Washington Monument from the highway. Overall, I think it was about 8½ hours on the road.

My room isn’t bad. The only downside is the nonstop dripping tub faucet. The mattress, as great as it is, did nothing for my sleep last night. I went to bed really early because I was completely drained. Unfortunately, I was either too cold, or too hot all night. There was no comfortable in-between.

Chould I have gone outside and maybe smoked a little something-something to help? Absolutely. Did I? Not a chance in hell.

Today should be better. Both boys have had their CBD, and I need to get dressed. I’m only going into South Carolina today. If I leave now, I might get there before check-in, but not by too much, and it never hurts to ask. Then I could take a very much needed nap.
