So Take Off All Your Clothes

Well, that was one of the worst sleeps in recent memory. It was ridiculously hot and humid upstairs. Even on top of the covers, I was uncomfortable as hell. I don’t know what time I woke up in the middle of the night, but I had a terrible time trying to fall asleep again.

Today should be even worse. We can expect high temps and humidity, with a threat of thunderstorms this afternoon.

Happily, my improvised Velcro strap kept the medication fridge closed after we closed on Saturday evening. Based on the fridge monitor, it seems like the fridge popped open shortly after we closed up on Friday night. The strap fixed that. Unfortunately, they still haven’t resolved the problem of the rest of the pharmacy overheating. The ambient temperature monitor showed we went several degrees out of range for most of Sunday.

The store manager had an HVAC guy in last week to see what sort of options we had. While they walked around the pharmacy, he said they’d probably just replace the fridge and add an AC vent to our area. Then, while the two of them walked around the rest of the store, he told the manager they couldn’t actually do anything. StressedRPh emailed our district office and expressed her disappointment in how this is being handled, and their seeming willingness to let everything cook on their shelves.

I got my first real paycheck since they cut the pharmacy hours last month. I say “real” because every pay period since that week has had something that makes it unusual. Once period had holiday pay, another had a weird schedule change. There wasn’t anything weird in this pay period, however. I lost about $50, which puts me down about $100/month in the budget. I need to find the ambition to do more than workouts on the weekends. It would certainly help if I sold off the remaining Lego and Funko Pops.

I’m trying to remain optimistic. However, I’m not sure how long I can keep things afloat while I clean out and sell the house. Ideally, I’d love to time it so Shawshank has a job before I arrive in TinyTown. We’d like to find our own place ASAP and not add any strain to their household. Logically, we know we’ll probably sleep in the camper trailer for a bit while things get straightened out.

I have an early shift today. If the weather reports are to believed, I can expect to drive home during the height of the evening storms. I need to stop and buy cat food, otherwise the boys won’t have breakfast tomorrow. Once I’m home, I’ll made something easy for dinner, because this heat just sucks every ounce of energy out of me.

I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I was tossy turny when I got back to bed. And when I finally did go back to sleep it was a light sleep.
