sew zone

Good morning, and happy Saturday. The day dawned gray and foggy and dampish. Grab a spot to sit, there’s coffee.

I spent much of yesterday playing Tears of The Kingdom and doing crafty shit. I normally do my thing in the afternoons – whether that “thing” is smut or spin time, I usually do it after lunch, when I’m awake and fully human-ed up. The maintenance guy replaced our back door, so I didn’t do much of anything. I didn’t want to be blaring my playlist and showing my ass while this poor old dude was trying to work.

Shawshank brought home a big piece of cardboard, and I cut it into the appropriate pants-shape. Once I cut shit, I ended up broadcasting 15 minutes of me pinning fabric before I quit the stream. I needed to actually sew things, but meant moving my base of operations. Either move the camera and keep the stream, or leave it and sew off-cam. I opted to just kill the feed, because the 3 people watching probably didn’t care. Shawshank was coming home soon anyway.

I spent all evening sewing. I whipped up the pants in an hour or so, but I used the rest of the night to fuck around with fabric and work on a matching top. Once again, I wasn’t going from a pattern. Shawshank sat on the couch and watched me work. He likes watching me trying to work out problems. I was in the “sew zone”, mentally flattening and disassembling a 3-dimensional shirt, then recreating its pieces. I have my bits made, I only need to reassemble them. Overnight, I realized I could have done one thing differently, so I have to cut a seam open.

We’re heading out to Slightly BiggerTown today. We need to find some groceries. Unfortunately, the secondhand shop is closed.
