It’s gonna be a long one.

Happy Thursday, my friends ☕ There’s a chill in the air this morning, but it’s supposed to be warmer later today. The weather is definitely turning more fall-like, and I probably only have a few more weeks of comfortable poi weather. Hurricane Sally passed over my mom yesterday. She lost power and water at her house and has a lot of downed branches in her yard, but no other damage.

Someone picked through the boxes I’d left outside for Wednesday’s trash. Two of the boxes were filled with collectibles, and someone took both of those before the trash was picked up. I felt terrible putting them outside on Tuesday night. Funko Pop figures filled one box, another contained my My Little Pony Show Stable – the first thing I bought when I started collecting the original ponies again. Some of the custom ponies went out as well. I couldn’t sell them, and I can’t keep them. I have one pony coming with me. My glittery pink ukulele wasn’t there in the morning.

Next week, the bouquet of duct tape roses I carried in our “fancy” Vegas wedding, as well as the tiny top hat I wore instead of a veil, will go out in another box. Those will be painful.

Yesterday’s shift was another rough one. DayTech wasn’t in until mid-afternoon. The morning went smoothly. Around noon, I thought to myself “this isn’t bad”. Unfortunately, with those three words, I summoned some sort of malevolent force that made the rest of the day go to complete shit.

All afternoon, it was just problem after problem. Someone wanted a flu shot, but their insurance kicked back a weird error. A couple of complete losers drop off five scripts and want to fill everything, but they’re all controlled substances due on different days and they want to wait for everything. They come back an hour later and argue about their copays. Every time we’d get to a point where it felt like we could finally make some headway on things, someone would bring in a script for something kept in the time-delay safe, or want a flu shot.

Today is a late shift. I’m about ready to head upstairs for a workout.

  1. Clean off the tiny top hat, and put it in the truck. Glove compartment. Please.
