Good morning, world. Happy Thursday. The crows are pretty vocal at this end of town. TinyTown is blanketed in fog right now, but it’ll change. In the words of WJAR’s wonderful weather-gal Kelly Bates, it’s gonna be a scawcha out there. My mother says I need a water bottle. She’s right, I probably do.
Yesterday, I approached Just Dance from a different angle, and didn’t do anything from my warm-up playlist. Instead, I picked a couple of low-effort songs I really enjoy to start with. In my logic, if I gave up after a half-dozen songs, well, at least I did the stuff I liked. I played one or two of the latest song drops. I don’t have any opinions on them yet, as I think I’ve only tried one so far. Between the fan and doing it earlier in the morning, I made it through about 40 minutes of dancing, which felt great.
I absolutely can’t wait until August, when one of Ubisoft’s online services shuts down. The shit will absolutely hit the fan, and I’m here for it.
BACKGROUND: At the moment, there are two online services for Just Dance. The first served the games released through 2022 in the series (aka “Unlimited”). The second service is used for the games released in 2023 onward (“Plus”). Back in April, Ubisoft announced Unlimited would be removing 200+ songs in July, before completely shutting down in August. Of course no one reads shit. In the months since the announcement, there’s been a trickle of posts about missing songs and difficulties renewing Unlimited.
Today, there were two more. One right after the other. It was a double-whammy of dumbass.
I only have a ps4 and my unlimited subscription went out. I can’t renew it and I can’t get the newer games cus they’re not available to ps4. What do I do now?

You play the 40ish songs you have in the game, or move to the new games.
So…unlimited isn’t available on PS4, do you guys think unlimited songs will be available for free soon or locked behind a paywall? (even tho you can’t pay anymore)

Exactly what do they think is going to happen here? Ubisoft will renew the license on over 400 songs because you’re still playing old games on old systems?
I expect the uproar will grow more vocal and frantic next week, when it becomes really obvious Ubisoft is moving on from Just Dance’s old format. There’s a grace period for some users, who will see an extra 3 months of access before the 2025 installment is released in October. Honestly, this bitchfest is a refreshing change from the handful of people who regularly whine that the new games don’t support Kinect anymore.
