extreme cold warnings blanket the area

It’s another morning. It’s been… moist. We’ve reached that point of the season where I try very hard to avoid posting about the fact I overheat at the mere thought of the heated mattress pad.

TikTok came back online after lunch. It’s bullshit political theater. Unfortunately, I couldn’t access live streaming. I killed some time playing Slay the Spire, periodically trying to go live, but gave up.

I spent the rest of the afternoon being crafty with the dress form. It was an afternoon of experiments: I drafted a simple vest pattern. The first attempt was on paper, and a failure. I used a trash bag for the second try, and was rewarded with two pieces of marked up clear plastic. I traced that design onto some paper and cut out my two halves of the pattern. At that point, it was time to make something, so I scrapped a pair of pants …

… ironed out the wrinkles, and saved the elastic for something else. After some thought over whether to stick with simple or attempt harlequin-style, I went with simple. It’ll be reversible, but I haven’t quite decided on what the other side will be. I cut some fabric, then spent the rest of the afternoon alternating between pinning and sewing.

By the time Shawshank came home at dinner time, I had a finished but recognizable article of clothing on the dress form. I pinned some darts and finished cleaning up my mess just before he walked in the door.

Today is the presidential inauguration. I’m staying away from the TV as much as I can. Shawshank‘s closing tonight, and I’ll decide if I’m going to stream on TikTok or Clapper.
