It’s another Friday. We got some snow overnight, and I keep seeing sporadic flurries now and then. Like right now.
I might go out later and spin, since there’s no wind today.
Mom brought Mal to the vet yesterday because he hadn’t been eating. Shawshank criticized Mom for waiting, but I was honest with him: I waited longer the last time. It’s difficult to tell when he’s not eating because they eat out of each other’s bowls so often. You really can’t tell until things get bad and he’s lost weight. Either way, he was seen by the vets. They kept him for the day so they could take x-rays and an ultrasound. They’re not 100% certain without surgery, but they believe the mass they felt back in November is a form of lymphoma in the area where his large and small intestines meet. She brought him home, yelling at her from the crate, like this isn’t who you are, you’re supposed to give me treats and cuddles.
They hydrated Mal and gave him the same round of stuff he had when I brought him last. He has something for nausea and some steroids to stimulate his appetite and thirst. Mom stood guard over him while he drank water for a solid five minutes and then cleaned his food dish. This morning, he sat with her like he had been doing last week, meowing and chatting with her while she putters. She says he’s still staying in her linen closet when he’s not in the living room, so she put a little rug down for him. I told her he probably decided I’m not coming back and he’s moved into her room.
I need him to be there when I get back.
Again, we’re not opting for surgery. I feel like an absolute horrible cat-mom, but I honestly think it’s the kinder option for him. The vet reiterated that he doesn’t seem to be in any sort of pain. He’s considered a senior cat, and he’s been displaying signs of advanced kidney disease as well as this current batch of issues. Let me love him while he’s not in pain, and let him go when the time is best for him.
I spent much of yesterday painting Shawshank‘s Beautiful Battle Bitch Brigade.
I’ll probably spend a lot of this afternoon working on them some more, since I need to really work on Celestine Sister Mary John Woo’s armor there.
Let’s make today less stressful than yesterday, shall well?
Don’t forget: Buffalo chicky wrap and fries tonight!
