Booze and Buffalo Chicken Wraps

Jesus, what a long day. The worst part of it – the Unnamed Pharmacist – just leeched into every other part of the day. It was like he’d never worked in any pharmacy before, let alone acting like it was his first time in our pharmacy. On top of that, he’s got a very thick accent. Between the accent and the masks we’re wearing in the pharmacy now, he’s damned near unintelligible.

After DayTech left for the afternoon, it only got worse. It’s always a little busier in the afternoons, and eventually the petty side of me didn’t want to deal with any sort of bullshit from him anymore. At one point, I left him and stocked supplies while he dealt with one of our worst patients.

Shawshank called shortly before my shift ended. I grabbed my phone and ran to the break room thinking something’s happened. On the other end of the line, he’s greeting me with “Hi, baby!” like nothing’s wrong. Last week, I’d told him no one would be mad if he called to let me know what happened after court and I had to run off to the back for a couple of minutes. In his head, that meant it was ok to call in the afternoon any time. Calling when there’s something already happening that day is on thing, but on a random day? Nope. Not cool. I felt bad about being upset because I knew he only called because he’d been having a frustrating day, but this is not the time or situation to be surprising me.

Throughout the shift, I debated what to do after work. Food shopping? Workout? Scream? In the end, I came home, and did an hour-long workout. Before I headed upstairs, I ordered my dinner, just to be sure it would get in in time. I overheard them saying they had shut off online ordering early last week because they weren’t able to keep up. An hour upstairs was long enough to feel like I did something, while still giving me enough time to cool down before getting dinner.

I even had enough time to go to the liquor store before I went to the pizza place.

Tomorrow’s coming.

On the agenda for the day? Morning shopping, once I look through the kitchen and find out what I’ve got and what I might need. I need to make a trip to the post office. I’ll do the laundry at some point. Somewhere in all that, I’ll work on cleaning a bit more out of the basement, and maybe some stuff from upstairs.

Right now, it’s time to throw back a shot and take a shower.
