Well, we had one good day before everything went to shit again-
One glorious day filled with sunshine and WiFi and intact skin.
I was in the middle of writing up yesterday’s morning post. Brian came back inside with a cut thumb. After Mom rendered some minor first aid, they went out to the ER to see about stitches. Brian said he almost took off the top of his thumb. Mom told me he gave himself a L-shaped flappy slice. The truth is somewhere in the middle, and required 11 stitches to close up.
Fortunately, the ER they went to is very close by and they seem to have a fairly quick turnaround time. Mom and Brian were back after about an hour. He has today and tomorrow off work, and needs to get the stitches removed in 10 days.
Thumb mostly intact, we went to the Compound as originally planned. The food was decent, even if Brian’s mom cut the smoked pork butt so thick enough it could have been chops instead of sandwiches.
However, when it rains, it pours. We came back home and our fiber – the brand new fiber optic service we just had installed over a 6-hour stretch on Thursday – wasn’t working. No TV, no WiFi.
Honestly, my first thought was that Brian cut the wrong cables in addition to his thumb. However, they had been bingeing HGTV reruns before we went out. I probably can’t blame him this time.
I reset the router a few times, checked the connections, and then installed the AT&T app to run their diagnostic shit and check for local outages. Eventually, the diagnostic shit determined the problem needed a tech to come out. Someone will be out late in the day.
Brian just tried to switch the TV back to the cable input just in case service came back. I think it’s time for me to go into the other room and do own my thing for a bit.
