A Good Weekend

A Good Weekend

Yesterday was pretty good. We made it out of the house early enough to beat most of the crowds at the various stores. Our first stop was buying a bunch of treat boxes and bags for the Christmas sweets, and a couple of large bottles for bottling coquito to bring to family. In an unusual turn of events, we made it out without buying anything for my assorted hobbies, and the only extras we bought were a couple of ugly Christmas sweaters, which he wanted to buy. We did a quick run through Target, but saw nothing of interest. The food shopping was pretty boring, although we did manage to get there at the right time for free chocolate samples.

Our afternoon was spent playing a random dungeon in Gloomhaven. Considering how simply they’re created – you pick a card with a map marked with what tiles have things on them, and another card with what’s in the map’s tiles – even the random dungeons take some time to set up. I think he spent a good half an hour finding all the bits and bobs needed for the three rooms that made up the dungeon.

However, it was a great way to spend the afternoon. We’re finally getting a solid grasp of the foundation of the game, and have really started working on our card strategies.

“Strategery,” he says.

We cooked a great dinner. I like to make big bowls of things, and I decided this week needed to include a burrito bowl. A lot of the time we make them with ground meat, but this week I wanted some chicken breast. It turned out really well, and he raved for the rest of the night about how good it was.

The cats and my brain actually allowed me to sleep in a bit, which was very much needed. I got up, had some coffee, and wrote up a 45-minute workout. Then, I made another cup of coffee and brought that upstairs to be enjoyed during the aforementioned workout. Speaking of which, that workout was fucking grueling, and awesome, and I’m going to hurt tomorrow.

It’s a good hurt.
