Good morning, my friends. Happy Saturday. This morning is sunny and clear and the wind seems light, if not entirely nonexistent. We’ve already been treated to a Pippin TROMP through the house.
The haunted house went off without a hitch, not that I had anything to do with it. Half of my makeup was done in the morning. I wanted to do everything but my lips in the morning, but opted to go full clown just before Shawshank came home. I didn’t want to risk smearing it on something. After a chicken nugget and tater tot dinner, I finished the makeup and got dressed.
We showed up about 20 minutes before it was supposed to start. We met one of the people organizing and got the rundown on where I should be and what I should be doing. After it was initially suggested that I spin inside the corral where people would be lining up, I decided I would be in the grassy area between the bar and Shawshank‘s shop. From there, Shawshank and I went to his shop to sit for a little while.
The night went off without any issues. Everything was fully charged. Since I was outside the corral, no one was in any danger of being hit by my balls. Futzing with a playlist for the last few days turned out to be pointless, as they had a speaker blaring circus music in the outdoor area. Shawshank set up a little spot to sit against his building and put all of my gear out for easy access.
For the most part, I was left alone. The woman “escorting” guests past me played me up as her granddaughter. She asked if I wanted more focus on me, and I told her I was totally OK with what she was doing. Hermit Girl doesn’t like the attention. After a couple of hours, the speaker with the circus music died, and I popped my earbuds in for some of my own music.
I spun poi for a solid three hours. THREE FUCKING HOURS. I couldn’t hear much with the earbuds in, but Shawshank said he heard nothing but positive stuff about me. I eventually worked up enough warmth to take off my coat and toque. My arms were jell-o by the time we left around 10:30pm. Shawshank stuck me in the shower to de-clownify myself, then we ate snacks and watched Law & Order. Completely beat, we crashed and went to bed.
We’re going grocery shopping today. We’ll make the trip out to Slightly BiggerTown, grab the food and lunch, and maybe hit a couple of little shops to see if there’s anything to incorporate into tonight’s gig.
We’re going back tonight, just a bit later. I told the woman I had to stop when I did otherwise I wouldn’t be able to do anything tonight. Aside from a little bit of stiffness in spots, I don’t feel as bad as I expected this morning. As it stands, like any post-workout pain, this isn’t even my final form. While I’m fine now, experience tells me I’ll feel it later in the afternoon. Then the real fun begins.
I should probably do some stretching.
Awesomeness!!!
