Armed with the knowledge that the paperwork is on its way back to Shawshank, the powers that be forwarded yet another closing extension form to be digitally signed. The new closing date is Thursday. I’m aiming for leaving Wednesday if possible. I shouldn’t get my hopes set on it, since Shawshank hasn’t even received the paperwork to forwarded it on. However, I’d like to be prepared on the off-chance things do move quickly. The buyer needs to be out of her current place tomorrow, which is why she’s so anxious to move in.
Yesterday, I spent an hour dragging things up from the basement. Most of it was stuff that didn’t need to be boxed , but never came upstairs over the summer. There was an electric turkey roaster, two coolers, and a lot of Christmas ornaments. Unlike every other purge in The Great Sort, yesterday was the first time I put out stuff that was actual trash before the actual pickup day. I brought up another moldering collection of cardboard boxes. The last thing I wanted was a toxic pile of spore-filled cardboard sitting mere meteres away. I’d barely made it to the curb just when the bottom of the container box completely dissolved.
Additionally, I brought the two more smaller toolboxes upstairs. Both of them are filled with random hand tools. I think there’s a couple of smaller power tools left as well. I’m hoping that I can catch my neighbor outside sometime this weekend, and I’ll see if he wants them.
Otherwise, it was pretty boring day. I started the day with a workout and finished it with a giant buffalo chicken wrap. In between, I watched a few more episodes of Buffy and a lot of miniature painting videos on Youtube. I really miss painting. The wreaths were nice to help calm the crafting bug, but I miss the painting. Even worse is watching examples of a different technique to try out (but wouldn’t work with the current stuff).
I think my big excitement of the day was the spur of the moment decision to buy a new phone. After literally no hesitation (or research) at all, I opted for a Pixel 4a and a case. Totally unlike me, I just added $400 worth of stuff to a cart and bought it. What product do I second guess?
The frickin case.*
It’s not the latest and greatest or top of the line phone, and I don’t care. My current phone is a Samsung Galaxy S8 that was already outdated when we got it in 2018. It’s… deteriorating. Sometimes it decides the charger is unacceptable until I unplug it and plug it back in. Every time I rest it on the edge of my bathroom sink, it thinks the sink is a giant NFC card to read.
It’s time.
I’m not sure what’s happening today. The weather forecast is pretty dismal all day, with showers all day, but the rain should let up later. I need to go out for a little while to pick up the steering fluid, and I might try to meet up with my aunt and uncle one more time. Providing the weather clears up early enough, I should start packing the truck. The last thing I need is to start loading the night before my departure, only to discover it doesn’t fit. I want to avoid hasty, last minute decisions.
Enjoy the weekend while it’s here, my friends.
* I realized this morning I didn’t buy screen protectors either, so I ordered those and a second case, and I’ll return whichever case I don’t like.
