Cautiously Optimistic (or trying to be)

It’s Tuesday, right? I have too much shit going on. The days are bleeding together. I know it will only be worse once I don’t have work to deal with.

So…. First things first.

We accepted the offer on the house. Yesterday, our agent texted me just after I started work to ask if either of us was available to chat. The agent for the potential buyer called her first thing in the morning to ask if we’d made a decision. This woman really, really loves the house.

Shawshank and I chatted on Sunday night about the offer. I chatted with my mom and told her what we thought of things. It’s a good offer: $5000 less than our original price. But, like our agent, we’re nervous. We don’t want to waste our time.

We accepted the offer, with the proviso that we can keep showing the house to interested people until things are set in stone. She told Shawshank that the buyer is using an awesome lending company that really knows their shit about this sort of thing. It would probably boil down to the buyer hiring a painter just before closing or just after. Either way, not my issue to deal with. We’re trying to remain cautiously optimistic. If things do move forward without trouble, we could be officially done by my birthday in February.

And, since I don’t need to be physically here, I could leave even before that.

Before that, however, it’s holiday bullshit.

I have Christmas dinner taken care of. Our favorite restaurant will be open on Christmas day, so I’ll be gorging myself on Indian food. Even better, the new guy at work gave me a $25 gift card to the place.  It’ll be weird, going to a restaurant by myself.  I’ll probably order a metric fuck-ton of Chinese on Christmas Eve, so I have enough leftovers for lunch on Christmas day. I texted my sister and asked if she wanted a cake. She hasn’t replied yet, so I’ll message her again today.

But right now, it’s time for a workout. I skipped them for the weekend because I was having some knee issues. However, things are feeling pretty good today, and I need to get off my ass.
