That’s what I got out of yesterday’s yard sale. The $200 is just an estimate, as I’m not completely certain what I took out of the money bucket to make change. Unfortunately, there is no dispute with regards to the sunburn. I’m pink. In my experience, it’s not the worst I’ve had. Give it a day or two, and it’ll be fine.
(spare me the “you should use sunscreen!” because I had it and I’m fairly certain I’d still end up with a sunburn in a burqa)
I don’t think I’ll have another yard sale. They’re too much work for too little result. It took me almost the entire two hours I slated for prep to haul everything outside. People stopped by an hour early to try to buy things before I was open. Half the people that came pissed me off in some way or another. “How much?” The sticker says it’s $2. “How much?” $2. “How much for this?” That’s my kitchen shelves, it’s not for sale. “No?” No, Maria, it’s not, it holds my pots. For fucks sake, take your box of shoes and go.
Someone stopped and wanted to buy my neighbor’s Carolla. When I told him it wasn’t mine, he tried to buy my two vehicles. No one showed up to haggle over my tea set. There were a few people who were nice to talk to, usually those who took the time and went through the collection of albums.
I started packing up things about 30 minutes before the scheduled 1 pm “end” time. By that point, I was miserably hot, I’d run out of drinks, and I was starving. At 1 pm, I hauled everything to the back steps with the intention of leaving it there while I had lunch. Unfortunately, the expected rains moved in just as I brought the last of the stuff to the backyard. I was forced to delay lunch for a bit while I brought everything inside as quickly as possible. In the end, I left a few boxes of things I knew would survive outside, mostly dishes and glassware. I ate lunch, chatted with Shawshank, and took a nap.
Since I did so much yesterday, I don’t have many plans for the day. I have to wash yesterday’s dishes and the week’s laundry. I’ll probably sort out some of the unsold items and put them up for sale. However, I don’t need to be anywhere.
And I don’t plan on doing much more than putting clothes on.
