jams

Hello, Friday. It’s Day 2 of clouds, which sucks ass. The sun is trying to burn them off, but it’s not happening quickly. If it does burn off, I don’t expect the sun to stick around. Chaucer is curled up on the pirate chest, using my sleep mask as a pillow.

Yesterday was a loagy day. I did some less drastic, more normal makeup, and I played about 40 minutes of Just Dance. Ubisoft released some new songs via the online service this week, and I’ve played maybe one of those songs. I really like the addition of playlists, and I’ve made a few already.

  • warm up: I usually start with a couple from this playlist, it’s mostly “chill” songs, but there’s a couple of things to get the heart rate up.
  • my jams: things I’m good at and enjoy (not to be confused with things I’m good at but don’t enjoy, like “Drop the Mambo” (accidentally good) and “Rasputin” (that song will kill me someday)).
  • oldies: pretty much everything I like that’s pre-1980’s
  • angry birds: a throwback to my “Angry White Chicks” playlist on Youtube Music, this is a playlist of rage-y, angry female singers.
  • not English: a wild mix of world music.
  • Gaga: Pretty much all of Lady Gaga’s songs in one convenient place for me to never touch because I’m so fucking bad at anything remotely resembling vogueing.

Sure, there’s no shuffle or repeat options. It’s a bummer, yes. However, we can choose any song in the playlist to start with, as well as skip songs. It’s not difficult. Yesterday, I started the morning with a couple of warm up songs, then decided to do a few from the “not English”. While it was warm and I didn’t dance as much as I wanted, I enjoyed myself. I even broke a few previous high scores.

Alas, the weather never improved, it only worsened. It was raining when Shawshank came home, and we’re supposed to see more of the same today. We watched the first presidential debate, died a little inside, had hot chocolate and bowls of cereal, and went to bed. That’s what adults do.

Monday is Canada Day, so Shawshank has a 3-day weekend. He’s working this morning, and we plan to do the grocery shopping this afternoon. And let’s not forget the weekly Date Night. Tomorrow, he’ll be going over to Shady Acres to replace the truck’s brakes. I’ll be staying home and starting to work on the pile of glowworm locs.

I should start the day. I have until 1:30-ish to be weird.
