Extreme Alert

Well, if anything good is coming out of this epic pandemic bullshit, it’s getting a bit of overtime this week. I stayed an hour late today, and 30 minutes extra yesterday. Today was worse than yesterday, unfortunately. It was pretty steady. I think people aren’t freaking out quite as much today as yesterday. Consequently, more people are venturing out of their houses.

Unfortunately, they all came into the pharmacy today. On top of that, I feel like 75% of them suddenly needed to buy thermometers. The remaining 25% all thought they were hysterical when they asked if we had surgical masks and hand sanitizer.

This shit doesn’t help, either.

I’m waiting for Shawshank to call. He said he planned to make more of an an effort to not call me every night. However, I know he’s probably quietly freaking out in his room. Yesterday wasn’t good for him. He wanted an idea of what to expect at Thursday’s hearing, even if it was only reassurance that he wasn’t expected to do much at all. ICE wasn’t there, and now he’s nervous. When his laundry was returned to him yesterday, it was missing almost everything. This left him with nothing but two pairs of socks, some boxers, and the clothes he was wearing when his laundry was picked up. Worst of all, he’s got no one to talk to, and told me he’s always just on the edge of crying about anything at all.

Update: he’s better today, he has clothes, but no court answers yet. I checked after he got off the phone, and the only hearings that are being postponed are those involving people who aren’t currently detained. So, there’s one answer, at least.

For now, time to take it some trash, and get into the shower. I want to get some sleep tonight.
