considerable

Happy fucking Friday. TinyTown is sunny, but our forecast says we can expect “considerable clouds” this afternoon. There’s already a bank of dark clouds on one side of the horizon, it’s only a matter of time.

Yesterday was devoted to more pants, for a limited time. I have two pairs I’m working on for myself, and neither pair is cooperating with me. The first pair has a stretchy velvet waistband. If it’s not sticking to itself on the business side, then the back side is sliding around. When I pinned the waist in place on Wednesday, I did it on the wrong side. I fixed the problem, then sewed them together, along with the matching ankle cuffs, and the waistband on a second pair. The waistband on the second pair is slightly less awful to work with, but has a pattern that I want to keep properly aligned. Inevitably, both waists needed to be ironed in order to keep their shit together.

Unfortunately, both pairs of pants were problems when it came to the machine. I had nearly finished closing up the velvet waistband when I hit a pin and jammed the needle in a way that required pliers. While dealing with that problem, I discovered the bobbin would have run out within an inch or so of the jam. Jam or not, I’d have had an issue with something. At that point, I just wanted to move on, so I put in a new needle, switched thread colors, and tried to work on the second pair. It’s absolutely impossible to sew more than an inch before that particular thread breaks. Just… dissolves. I don’t know if it’s the needle or the thread itself. I need to reload the bobbin for the velvet waistband, at least I know that thread is fine.

Shawshank works the last closing shift of the week tonight. No date night, but he says we might be able to go out tomorrow instead. I’m going to sew and smut.
