Happy Friday, party llamas 馃馃帀
I enjoyed my day off yesterday, but it’s back to the grind today. I’m pretty sure that it’s a shift with StressedRPh, since the tech that took my shift yesterday wouldn’t have worked with her. While that puts a damper on things a bit, it’s only one shift and I don’t need to see her again until next week.
Last night, BossRPh texted me and DayTech to ask if either of us could work a closing shift on Valentine’s day. I fired back “nope, sorry, birthday/Valentine’s dinner”. I haven’t had a Valentine’s night off in about 5 years. It was always our old NightTech’s shift, but then he got a girlfriend and suddenly “it’s our first Valentine’s together, I need it off.” Then it was “it’s our first Valentine’s after a year together,” then “it’s our first Valentine’s day as an engaged couple”. Unsurprisingly, last year was “it’s our first as a married couple.”
I wasn’t too upset to miss it last year. It had only been a couple of months since his arrest and the subsequent shitshow had left our marital status still in limbo.
Things are better this year.
Even if it wasn’t going to be my birthday weekend, I’d still have declined. I don’t like working nights, especially for someone who barely makes it in for her shift on a regular basis.
I’ll have the first half of both Saturday and Sunday to myself this weekend. Depending on how much my body protests today, I’ll get a workout in on both mornings. We’ve got the regular shopping tomorrow, since we won’t want to set foot anywhere near a grocery store on Sunday. Not with the game and people trying to stock up on party foods. We’re having our annual Snackerbowl, which essentially is just setting out a bunch of snacks and finger foods on the coffee table and grazing all day. We don’t even care about the game, we just want to eat and watch fun commercials.
