Good morning, and welcome to the weekend, part 2. I’ve been sort of awake for a while now, waking up sometime around sunrise, struggling to focus on my earbuds and my music. I was a little warm, but not to a point I wanted or needed to get out of bed. Chaucer snuggled up for a while. Pippin stayed in the other room.
Saturday was good to us. Shawshank made us coffee and I assumed my human form early. Around 9am, we headed out to Shady Acres to pick up his mom. We toured the town and hit about 15+ yard sales. I ended up with stuff at the very first stop. We left a lot of things that we liked, but just don’t have space for or weren’t in need of. Sadly, we didn’t find anything for Shawshank, but I came home with:
- wicker sewing basket and some elastic
- 2 very large white tablecloths
- 2 sheets, from the 60’s and 90’s(?)
- a pair of Vibram Five Fingers shoes
- a 1955 Saskatchewan cookbook
- a Nordic Ware baking pan
About 10 minutes after we bought the tablecloths, I realized I could probably tie-dye whatever clothes come out of them, which means even more fun for me.
When we got home, I ironed the sheets and moved a bunch of sewing supplies into the basket. Shawshank played some Tears of The Kingdom while I sorted and organized my fabric stash bag. We continued to support local businesses, and went out to eat at the restaurant for a second time this week. Normally, we only do Fridays, but dinner was on the house on Friday night, so we went in yesterday.
But why did we eat for free on Friday?
We had no fucking clue. Shawshank tried to pay on Friday, the waitress said it was taken care of. The owner had left word that we weren’t to be charged, saying Shawshank had helped her out during the week. He protested a bit because he had no idea what he had done to help. The owner was in yesterday, and Shawshank thanked her but admitted he had no idea what he had done. It turned out she had left her wallet when she went to the grocery store and someone else had paid for hers. She thought it was Shawshank. It wasn’t. We all got a good laugh out of how it all turned out.
I charged almost all of the poi, and went outside for an hour. Shawshank manned the playlist. I streamed, but I used the front-facing camera on the Pixel 4 and the quality was awful. Regardless of which phone I use outside, I really need to use the rear camera when I stream after dinner. The front cameras suck.
Today, we’re going to Shady Acres for dinner. The rest of the day is ours to do nothing with.
