Superior

Superior

After an awesome afternoon last Saturday, we came home to find evidence that while it’s slow, the legal system in this state is actually moving. He received his first court summons.

In November.

I’d been periodically checking things online, usually to just verify the date of the September meeting. Checking now shows that meeting is cancelled – “disposed before meeting”. However, that particular case is was in the lower district court.  Looking up that case now says the case is in superior court.  To say it’s confusing is an understatement, especially since his public defender, while supposedly great, is not big on communication.  Fortunately, the state provides a handy flowchart.

So, there’s that.  The first thing in November is the pre-arraignment meeting. You know, the meeting that keeps getting pushed off and pushed off.  A week later, the actual arraignment happens, and that’s what’s really scaring me. It’s that “bail is reset” that has the two of us worried about whether he’ll actually be leaving that particular meeting.

Commence nervous breakdown.
