New week, y’all. You ready? It’s sunny, and windy, and I’ve had a shitty morning. I woke up around 3am; it might’ve been the wind banging the blinds. I tried to go back to sleep, but failed. Eventually, Shawshank‘s alarm went off, and he got out of bed. Knowing my propensity for scaring the shit out of him if I show myself suddenly, I let him make coffee and get dressed before making it known I was awake. I brought a pillow out to the living room and napped out here.
We were sloths yesterday. We had brunch. I bitched about the fact the pack of bacon only had 7 pieces in it. My homemade waffles were delicious. Shawshank puttered with the chores. The weather was sunny and gorgeous, so the cats had their open doors and breeze. I seized the opportunity to wash my hair and all of its extra appendages.
Honestly, it felt great after nearly two weeks. Unlike the first time I left the locs in long enough to deal with a wash, I didn’t worry so much about getting everything wet. Previously, I mixed up some diluted shampoo for Shawshank to pour along the “channels” between locs. It was a whole delicate thing. This time, I channeled my best Yoga With Adriene forward fold to hang everything in the tub and used the handheld shower head. I lathered my scalp as best as I could, then freshened up everything else with some body wash. I rinsed and wrung out the mass, before finally running outside to perform the final step:
THE SPIN CYCLE.
Shawshank ran a week’s worth of mail over to Shady Acres. Aside from one or two trips outside for a few minutes of flow while I drip-dried, we spent the rest of the afternoon rotting on the couch, watching “X-Files” and “Bridgerton“. I made chicken curry and he handled the rice for dinner. It was a nice “recovery” day for him.
Shawshank‘s working all morning shifts this week. He ordered new brakes for the Hot Mess Express, along with an oil filter and the oil (I think), and we’re aiming to get them in on Saturday. I have an order of hair coming in from China this week, which should keep me occupied for a while once it shows up. Otherwise, I think it’ll be an ok week.
