so much drama

Good morning, world. It’s a new day. A Sunday. Podrick woke me up early with an attempt to get under the blankets with us. Unfortunately, his first attempt was ultra-successful, and he ended up under both the quilt and the weighted blanket. If he were bigger, I wouldn’t have worried too much, but he’s still too small to be gallivanting around under the weighted blanket. Plus, I was all nekkid, and he has claws. I hauled him out and he found some other place to sleep. Not to be denied, he was back around 5:30am, and I quickly got him settled into a nice spot – under just the quilt – until it was time for Shawshank to get up. Pod was so well-behaved that Pippin, who had been sleeping on the bed for the first time in a month, checked him out.

I made yesterday my bitch. Shawshank left for work, and I spent the rest of the afternoon editing photos and videos. When I’d finished with the media, I worked on scheduling posts for another week or two.

Fansly FYP Drama

There have been a few posts from other creators on Reddit, commenting that they can no longer promote pics on Fansly’s FYP. Looking at it, yep, it’s true. Since February, pics haven’t been pushed to the FYP. It’s been a big debate on Reddit ever since. Creators who don’t want to make FYP promos who demand Fansly change the algorithm to push pics harder, and the Fansly devs telling the creators they tried to force buyers to look at their pics, but the algorithm pushes video because users want videos.

But I want to post pics! they complained when the shift first happened. The devs explained “posting pics rather than videos won’t hurt you, but they probably won’t be seen because the users want videos“. As a result, I pivoted my promo strategy away from pics. Do I go viral and get thousands of views? Definitely not.

But I’m not posting pics, so at the very least, my content is being seen.

However, something on Fansly’s site was updated this weekend: creators no longer have the option to promote pics to the FYP. We can upload them, but we can’t promote them to the FYP unless we use a video as a preview.

Y’all, these creators have spent the last 4 months complaining the pics they send to the FYP aren’t being seen, and being told the users engage with video and the algorithm gives them what they want. This is what every social media algorithm does. It’s how they work. Now, the creators are getting their panties in a twist because they can’t promote pics to the FYP-

-The pics that wouldn’t be on the FYP in the first place.

Can’t believe Fansly has grown on the backs of creators who have spent a lot of their time on Fansly posting photos – just to turn around and stop promoting this select type of a media.

This is a very standard offering for subscription based tiers and it shouldn’t be so devalued.

It’s as though every creator is willfully ignoring the fact their pics can be seen if a user goes directly to their profile or scrolls through their home feed. The people looking at the FYP aren’t scrolling to find their friends.

Shawshank is working today, a full shift. I’m going to schedule some more smut and do some human things.
