roughly halfway

roughly halfway

It’s been a morning already. First, I went to refill my coffee mug and found there wasn’t enough coffee for a full mug. I refilled my mug with what was left – roughly halfway. Then, muscle memory took over and I added enough sugar for a full mug.

[insert eyeroll here]

I took the creamer out of the fridge and gave it a shake. Its lid doesn’t snap closed very well, or very tightly. My shake resulted in a shower of creamer sprayed around the kitchen. Creamer on the counters, the lower cabinet doors, me, the floors….

I cleaned up what I could see. Sometime in the spring, when heat returns to the frozen north and TinyTown thaws out, Shawshank will open a window and catch the scent of Irish cream coffee creamer and remember the visit where I destroyed his kitchen.

I also think I figured out how to set the automatic brew option, so there’s that, at least.

Art Shit

I laid down very base colors of the marble bases on those sculpted to look like “temple floor”. They look like shit. Marble is another thing where I need to remind myself constantly to trust the process. There was actually a point where I planned to strip the large base and start over from scratch because I hated it. While I know the finished product will look good, I’m kinda dreading how I feel about the 15 temple bases while I work on them. And even though Shawshank did say I’m too fat to fit in the microwave, I know he’d never say anything bad about the bases.

I also finished painting the half-marble bases yesterday afternoon. Initially, I had planned for more sandy/rocky surface on those bases that weren’t entirely marble. However, after looking at what sort of plant matter we have, I opted to go with a “grassier” ground cover instead. I really love the way they look, and I seriously need to glue some of these girls down. They look absolutely gorgeous.

Shawshank reminded me to lay down the rough sketch of the shop last night. I have everything put down except the signage. I’ll finish that tonight, providing Shawshank remembers to bring one of his mechanical pencils home with him at lunchtime. He told me that as long as I finish before they shut down at lunch on Christmas Eve, everything will be fine. I’ll have to skip painting the plastic for a little while.

That doesn’t start until tomorrow, after our trip into the capitol. Today, I have the temple floor bases to work on.

First, more coffee.

Those look awesome, I doubt any commercial grade product could be ANY better than what you’re doing here.
