prairie to tundra

We woke up to snow. There’s only a dusting of it right now, but the forecast says to expect a bit over 2″ today. Whether or not it melts off is the real question. Will I ever see grass again? Is this it until March?

Our Brunchy Sloth Day was good. I started Disco Elysium while Shawshank cooked the food. We’re enjoying it so far. Judging solely based on my dice rolls, this is the most dimwitted fool I’ve ever piloted. We switched off after we ate, and Shawshank took a turn. Heart attack aside, he is faring much better than I am with it. I love the graphics and the humor.

Most of the day was pretty dreary, but we had no plans, so it didn’t matter. Shawshank drove up to the store for smokes and soda. I took a break to run outside and dance in the dirt, barefoot. Once they were dirty, I sent a pic and a 5-second clip to someone. They sent me $50 and offered to buy me some house slippers.

After dinner, we camped on the couch and watched the 1994 version of The Stand. Even after all these years, I still maintain it has one of the best done openings. It gives you everything you need to know, and nothing else. Within the first 6 minutes, everything that matters is laid out for you. There’s barely any speaking, only a few lines. You’re told there’s been an accident, but the only explanations you’re given are via a “tour” of the facility via CCTV. We know it’s an ongoing and incredibly fast-moving situation, we see who’s behind it, we don’t need anything more. And it’s all set to frickin “Don’t Fear the Reaper”.

It’s been a loooooong time since either of us has watched it. In my opinion, for such a huge cast, most of the acting is incredibly bad. There’s no denying it’s a 90’s TV miniseries. We made it about halfway through the series before we stopped for the night. We’ll probably finish it after tonight’s dinner.

Shawsank’s boss is back in town, and he’s expecting today to be rough. I’ll put clothes on and live stream for the afternoon. We’ll have some fun.
