Photo Kiosks and Jars of Stolen Plants

Good morning, world. Yesterday’s clouds have moved out, and I have a sunny morning. I believe it’s supposed to be a lovely day.

On the other end of the weather spectrum, Shawshank is dealing with blizzard warnings.

Mom and I went out twice yesterday. We intended on going to the post office. Mom had a box of Easter gifts for my nephews, and another package for another relative. Brian’s mother called while Mom was in line. She wanted to know if we could go to Walmart with her in the afternoon and help her print some photos.

I helped her, as painful as it is. She’s one of those people who has trained herself to touch ANYTHING that’s a button. She doesn’t actually read the buttons’ labels, she simply pushes/taps any rectangular shape on a screen. The photo kiosk displays a screen similar to this

and she’s doesn’t tap the buttons. Instead, she’s racing through and tapping anything in those three larger boxes. Since she’s not actually hitting the button, nothing happens. Cue the frustrated squalling.

This time around, there was only a couple of pictures she wanted printed. She wanted me to help crop/zoom two of them. I was dreading having to explain how image clarity and resolution would affect how much I could zoom. Fortunately, that didn’t happen. With her squared away, we went off to pick up a couple of things for ourselves.

I rewarded myself with a soda and a new lighter with a llama on it.

The jar-den received a proper airing out today. I bought some knee high stockings and put them over the jar openings to keep springtails in and anything else out. When I added the kodama figures to the Apothecarium on Sunday, I was shocked at how humid the air inside the jars actually feels. It’s wild.

Covers in place, I left everything open for about five hours. While they were open, I added the remaining kodama figures to the smaller jars. Aired out and clean, they look so nice set up on the window.

Then, because I had a free container and free time, I made a tiny terrarium. I used the little plastic bubble the stockings came in. Due to its size limitations, I didn’t have the space to do a lot of substrate. In this case, there’s a layer of sand for drainage, and a little bit of Mom’s garden dirt. I scraped some moss off the front of the house, added an ivy leaf, and closed it up.

Today was supposed to be the monthly luncheon. Unfortunately, Mom’s allergies are really bad this week, like going through a box of tissues a day sort of bad. As a result, she’s skipping this one. She told me I could go along without her if I wanted.

I’ll pass.

Yeah, I’m going to go out tomorrow and find her some. Her regular antihistamines aren’t touching it this year.
