Yesterday was maintenance day in the jar-den. They’re all pretty much self-sustaining, which is good. Unfortunately, things were (still) pretty wet inside. I absolutely don’t want a jar of moldy plants, so I’m trying to get a good balance of moisture inside without “over watering”. Happy plants aren’t dead plants, and dead plants don’t keep the ecosystem running. I wiped down the glass in three of the five jars and left them open for a couple of hours.
All of them look a lot better today. Terra 3’s ivy (pic. 1) is taking over everything, sending roots in every possible direction and knocking a fern around. Fern Gully (pic. 3) and Teensycola (pic. 5) could probably still stand to lose a bit of moisture. However, I’ll allow them to stabilize a little before I make any decisions. The fifth and newest container (the last picture) is still too new to need a wipe-down just yet. I’ll revisit everything later in the week, when I’ll have a better idea of what’s happening in each jar. By that point, I’ll need to clean the algae off the Apothecarium’s walls again.
