Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight.

Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight.

Happy Sunday, my friends. It’s a little bit chilly for the day, and it’s supposed to stay that way for another day. The sky is cloudless and sunny and my goal for the day is to not entirely freak out about next week’s drive.

Yesterday wasn’t too bad. I started to go off into an anxious spiral for a little while, and Shawshank had to work and actually busy for a Saturday so I couldn’t bother him. I’ve literally spent the last year overwhelmed with this house. Now that’s it’s almost over, I don’t know what I’m doing if I’m not doing something. Inevitably, if I’m not occupied, my anxiety will ramp up because I feel as though I’m not doing everything I could be. It didn’t matter that the only items to wash were two plastic dishes and the odd cutlery, obviously the place it a pigsty and I should be ashamed of myself. I washed what was left, packed what I don’t expect the use anytime soon, threw out odd bits I’m not keeping, and moved on to washing out the fridge. Unfortunately, nothing helped.

Consequently, I needed an outlet because I was going to go crazy. I managed to mash together an hour long workout with the minimal amount of shit that’s still in the house: an 8 lb dumbbell, an 8 lb medicine ball, and an oddly-shaped 15 lb kettlebell. Thankfully, the fact that at-home workout equipment is (still) sooooooo difficult to find since lockdown has had one great benefit. The number of body weight or little/no equipment workouts on YouTube has exploded, and it was a solid workout.

The packet is in Calgary, or in transit out of Calgary. I’m not sure, exactly. Maybe things will be different once it’s entered the US. I expect it will be delivered and in the lawyer’s hands by some point tomorrow.

I’m still aiming for a Tuesday morning departure. I feel bad about leaving a pile of shit on the curb, but it is what it is. Considering the size of some of the piles of trash I’ve put out over the last year, it really shouldn’t be too bad. If I have some space, I’ll keep the sleeping pad, but half of the bedding is going outside. A microwave, a Keurig, and a folding table are the only major things left. When you compare things to where I was a year ago…. I’m in a better place.

At least in terms of cleaning up.

Shawshank is going to BiggerTown today for a family trip to Walmart. I’m getting dressed and being human and going out because I have nothing better to do. Have a lovely day, my friends.
