We stayed in bed for some extra time this morning. I’ve been awake, but Shawshank had a busy Saturday so I stayed in bed and surfed quietly. Chances are, if I got out of bed, he’d have gotten up as well.
My Saturday was far less active. I spent the afternoon ratting a bag of hair, which is the first step to turning them into locs. I started with the “light green”, which I think might refer to its glow color. The hair is definitely more of an icy blue turquoise than a green shade. This time around, I kept my sizing more consistent, and was able to make 10 locs. All I could think of while making them was if I had some red, I could totally make hair like Carbuncle from FFXI.*
After dinner, I crochet-wrapped two of the pre-matted locs and attempted to seal them – plus one unwrapped one – with my hair straightener. They turned out rather meh. I’m guessing a lot of the trouble has to do with my technique (holding things with my feet like a gremlin, on the living room floor) to some extent, but more likely because the flatiron wasn’t hot enough.
Oh, but it was certainly hot enough to burn my finger.
Today looks like it might be nice. I could move the whole hair-teasing operation outside if I wanted to. Shawshank has the washer going. We’re supposed to go out to Shady Acres later today, but the plans hinge on whether or not the family needs to recover from the day full of car repairs. Either way, I need to assume a human form.
*Ooooh…. I wonder if the glow-pink I have will be the right shade when it’s all matted up.
