I slept in for an hour. I know that sounds awesome – LOOK! PROGRESS! – but it really means I woke up around 5am instead of 4am. Shawshank kissed me goodbye and I heard the doors close. Pippin came into bed shortly after. She stood up on the pillows and let out the tiniest peep, so I adjusted the blanket. After a bit of back and forth, she curled up next to me. A few minutes later, she popped out of her blanket cave to find a comfortable position, and formed a cinnamon roll on my hip. We stayed like that until the need to pee overtook the desire for sleep.
Sunday was pretty typical. Shawshank made us a fabulous brunch, as usual. After brunch, we watched “The Social Dilemma“. I didn’t watch it when it came out because I was already well-aware of our household’s crippling tech addiction, thank you very much, and didn’t need to be called out for 90 minutes. But one of the TikTok creators featured in it is making waves yet again, and Shawshank said he enjoyed it enough to watch it a second time, so we did.
We also went out to Shady Acres. I brought the Switch with me, which let me play the daily challenge in Slay the Spire. It wasn’t a great run- disappointingly short. I poked through Temu because I need to buy more brow pens, and found a gorgeous clown costume that I refuse to buy. I started another run in Slay the Spire, and made it to a boss just before we sat down for dinner.
Once we were back home, we settled on the couch for the regular routine. I spent most of the time scheduling spicy content drops, until the nightly “wind down”. Every night, we have a bowl of cereal and watch TikTok clips. I fill him in on background drama as needed. Out of courtesy to him, I skip anything from the slime companies or Nate the Hoof Guy, as much as I fucking love watching the scoops from both.
Shawshank‘s opening up shop this week. I’m going to do my makeup. If I put my mind to it, I could probably spend the next couple of days making my own clownish costume. Halloween is coming.
