hermetically sealing my farts under a weighted blanket

Greetings, y’all. Happy Hump Day. We’ve hit Wednesday, and the streetlights reveal that TinyTown has a fresh layer of snow out there. Podrick woke me up around 5am for the usual “I NEED MY MAMA” visit. We cuddled, and he was a sweet boy until he decided he’d had enough and left. I rolled over and got comfy enough to doze. I heard Shawshank grumbling at him, so I put him in the hallway. Once I was back in the bed’s warmth, I reset my sleep-sounds and went back to dozing for an hour.

Now that the sun is up, I can see that it’s still snowing.

The power remained out for the remainder of yesterday morning. I put on makeup with the idea that I could stream if it came back early enough. I didn’t want to play with my phone in case the power didn’t come back. With the curtains open it was bright enough to read, so I grabbed something that piqued my interest enough to sit with – “Curse of the Narrows” – but that I wouldn’t care if I never finished.

I’d eaten lunch by the time the power came on in the early afternoon. As is customary whenever there is an issue, the problem is always worse for me when I’m alone versus when Shawshank is home. In this case, the power came back, but the internet didn’t. If he had been home, I know for a fact it would have taken a single reboot for it to work. Instead, I spent 45 minutes unplugging the router, patiently waiting before giving it juice and letting it do its thing, only for it to stubbornly blink orange. Finally, the lights blinked green.

By that point, it was pointless to try to stream. Setting up and breaking down before Shawshank came home would take up more time than I’d actually be able to stream. Instead, I watched a few episodes of “ER”. I’m about ¾ of the way through the first season, and really enjoying it. It’s been a while since I’ve watched it at all. It was on Amazon when I was up here visiting in 2021, and I think I watched most of the first season. Unfortunately, by the time I moved up a year later, it was no longer available to stream. This time around, I’m watching the whole damned thing.

The power has been steady this morning. Shawshank works night shifts for the rest of the week, so my schedule will be back to normal again. This half of the week is usually quieter for me, but I want to have a good night nonetheless.
